AGM, followed by talk: Colin Torode - 'Pilgrims and Princes',

The Society’s 158th Annual General Meeting is on Friday 24 April 2026 at 7.30pm. Immediately after the AGM our speaker will be Colin Torode from English Heritage. Colin will speak about 'Pilgrims and Princes', medieval pilgrim badges in all their forms. These badges were souvenirs often gained when completing a pilgrimage to a saint’s shrine, e.g. St Thomas A Becket in Canterbury. The fascinating thing is that many of the badges that we think of as pilgrim badges have nothing at all to do with a pilgrimage! Colin will then go on to look in greater detail at a few important recent badge discoveries. Lastly Colin will give a quick update on the Mint House, Pevensey.
